Almost all types of curtains can be dry cleaned, with some exceptions. Depending on the type of fabric and the level of dirt we will determine the best cleaning method for your curtains.

Curtains made of cotton, wool, linen or velor, for example, are particularly suitable for dry cleaning. This way, the curtains remain in their best condition.

By having curtains and drapes dry cleaned, the chance of shrinkage is much smaller. However, there is always a chance of “relaxation shrinkage”. This may differ per fabric and how long the curtains have been hanging.

With our experience of cleaning curtains, we know how to minimize shrinkage. Nevertheless, there remains a possibility of relaxation shrinkage of up to 3%.

Fortunately, curtains often have a generous hem. Upon consultation, we can always adjust the curtains to your exact measurements.

Can curtains be washed?

Some curtains can be washed. However, washing curtains involves more risk. Curtains can shrink and wrinkle more, and they may also lose color after each wash.

Sometimes there are moisture rings in curtains. This can be reduced by washing with water. We do this in consultation with the customer to discuss the risks. This causes more wrinkling and shrinkage.

Fortunately, we can iron most curtains completely straight again, but this requires extra work and expertise.
